Port Everglades to Begin Mangrove Enhancement Project on Arbor Day
In celebration of Arbor Day and the start of an extensive mangrove enhancement project at Port Everglades, residents with or without green thumbs are invited to attend a tree planting ceremony at the Port on Friday, April 25, at 9 a.m. where they will receive a Florida native plant to bring home for their own Florida-friendly landscaping. Parks to Hold a Paradise Pipeline Party at C.B. Smith Park
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners and the Parks and Recreation Division invite the public to a Paradise Pipeline Party, to celebrate the success of the new four-waterslide complex Paradise Pipeline at Paradise Cove, the water park at C.B. County Encourages Everyone to Wear Denim on Tuesday in Support of "Denim Day"
Broward County encourages all County residents to wear denim or denim ribbons on Denim Day, Tuesday, April 22, in observance of Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention Month. Broward County has supported the Wear Denim campaign since 2009. The daylong observance is dedicated to raising awareness about sexual violence and is coordinated by the Nancy J. Cotterman Center, 400 N.E. Fourth St., Fort Lauderdale.
Hollywood to Host Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Drop-Off Event on Sunday, April 27
Pack up your old computer, monitor, TV and any outdated household chemicals such as pesticides, paint and more, and head for a convenient drop-off event on Sunday, April 27, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2600 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. This free Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling drop-off event, hosted by Hollywood, is open to residents of cities that have participation agreements with Broward County. Workshops to Assist Broward Artists in Applying for the Centennial Mural Project
Broward artists interested in applying for the Call to Artists for the Broward 100 Mural Project in Broward 100 - Celebrating the Art of Community, are encouraged to attend one of two workshops on how to submit an electronic application in response to this Call to Artists. The workshops will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Main Library, Cybrary, 100 S. Andrews Ave. in Fort Lauderdale; and Thursday, April 24, 5 - 6 p.m. at the West Regional Library Computer Center, 8601 W. Broward Blvd., in Plantation.
