The Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD) is continually engaged in research and analysis projects designed to determine the feasibility of recruiting certain industries into Broward County, and to evaluate the potential long term success of those industries within the community.
Past analyses performed by OESBD include:
The Broward County Composite Industry Study
OESBD concluded the first phase of a study designed to determine the feasibility to recruit businesses engaged in the manufacture and use of composite materials into Broward County. The research identified key manufacturers and users of composite materials, as well as local resources for the industry such as: local universities offering composite industry technical support and related courses of study, sources of experienced, skilled and semi-skilled composite industry labor, and manufacturing related financial support.
The Marine Industry Analysis Report
The report outlines negative impacts that the South Florida Marine Industry faces. These impacts include a shortage of docking space, marinas being sold to condominium developers - bringing with it an increasingly scarce amount of waterfront access for boaters and marine related businesses, and ever decreasing job availability in marine related fields. The report details specific steps that can be taken to preserve one of Broward County's largest economic drivers.
