Investigate violations of Chapter 27 of the Broward County Code, also known as the Natural Resource Protection Code. Generally, these are activities that could potentially impact the air, water, soil or other natural resources of the County. Examples

• Canal maintenance (contact your local drainage district or city PDF)
• Food/restaurant safety and sanitation (Broward County Health Department)
• Freon releases or information (contact U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at 800-296-1996)
• Indoor air pollution (contact Florida Department of Health )
• Insect infestation (contact local pest control company or for information on landscape pest control contact Broward County Extension Education Urban Horticulture)
• Irrigation violations (contact local law enforcement entity)
• Rodent infestation (contact Florida Department of Health)
• Septic systems (contact Florida Department of Health)
• Wildlife (contact Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission)

Responds to complaints of mosquitos within 3 business days, but can take longer depending on the volume of requests and weather conditions.

The Smoking Vehicle Program makes it easy for the public to voluntarily report smoking motor vehicles and take an active role in keeping Broward County’s environment clean. If you are subjected to a smoking vehicle, call the Environmental Complaint Hotline at 954-519-1499, or fill out an online complaint form and be sure to note the following:

• smoking vehicle’s Florida tag number
• the make, model and color of the vehicle
• the date and time the vehicle was seen
• location and city where you saw the vehicle
