New Broward County Business Opportunity Act of 2012
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners passed the new Broward County Business Opportunity Act of 2012 on October 23, 2012. This new ordinance impacts the County's Small Business programs administrated by the Office of Economic and Small Business Development. Purchasing Division Attains "Outstanding Agency Accreditation Achievement Award"
Broward County Purchasing Division has attained its recertification from the Institute for Public Procurement (formerly the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing - NIGP) and received the "Outstanding Agency Accreditation Achievement Award." In an effort to promote transparency to the Broward County procurement process, the Purchasing Division introduces a broward.org/Purchasing link to a document repository containing documents used by Selection and Evaluation Committee members in evaluating and ranking proposers for final award of County contracts. The Purchasing Division is charged with the responsibility to procure all goods, services and construction for agencies under the supervision of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners. Please note this excludes those sections of the government that come under elected officials or elected boards, i.e., Broward Sheriff's Office, Broward County School Board, the Clerk of the Court, Supervisor of Elections, Property Appraiser and other offices that may fall wholly or partially under the State. The Purchasing Division not only buys everything used by the Board of County Commissioners, but also handles all surplus sales.
