Businesses Encouraged to Apply for Emerald Award Environmental Excellence Program Local businesses committed to protecting the environment are encouraged to apply now to be recognized by Broward County’s Emerald Award Environmental Excellence Program. Created by the Broward County Pollution Prevention, Remediation and Air Quality Division, the program honors businesses, government or organizations and individuals who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to protecting and preserving the environment.

Get Involved with Broward Complete Streets Initiative!

The Broward Regional Health Planning Council was recently awarded a Center for Disease Control and Prevention grant to create healthy and safe places in Broward County that are supportive of active lifestyles by "establishing ‘Complete Streets’ community design standards to make streets safe for all users, including those who walk, ride bikes and use public transportation." As a result, Broward’s 31 municipalities soon will have the tools necessary to design streets that balance all modes of transportation. In the month of April, there will be three public workshops.
