Mr. Lafayette HartNestled within the surrounding neighborhood, this 1.14-acre park was originally known as Washington Park when it first opened in 1974. Leading the efforts to establish a park in the area was one of the leaders of the Washington Park Civic Association, Lafayette Hart. After Hart died in 1989, the community rallied and asked the Broward County Commission to rename the park in his honor. In 1992, the park was rededicated and named Lafayette Hart Park.
