November 21 Climate Change Task Force Meeting
The November 21, 2013 Quarterly Climate Change Task Force Meeting featured expert speakers discussing the Conservation Goal Setting Process at the Florida Public Service Commission, NASA's innovations in Climate Education, implementation of the Regional Climate Change Action Plan, The South Florida Regional Planning Council's Policy Options for Adaptive Planning for Sea Level Rise and FPL's Efficiency Investing and Energy Savings for Customers. Additionally, Broward County staff from the Natural Resources Planning and Management Division gave updates on climate and sustainability projects, international interest in local climate planning and the Regional Climate Leadership Summit. Climate Change Element (CCE) / Land Use Plan (LUP)
The Broward County Commission passed the Climate Change Element into the Broward County Comprehensive Plan and also the Land Use Plan and Priority Planning Areas Map Amendments. Climate Literacy-The Essential Principles of Climate Science Guide by U.S. Global Change Research Program presents important information for individuals and communities to understand Earth's climate, impacts of climate change, and approaches for adapting and mitigating change. Principles in the guide can serve as discussion starters or launching points for scientific inquiry. The guide can also serve educators who teach climate science as part of their science curricula. This publication was made available in English and Spanish language.
