Public Art at the Libraries
Next time you’re at your favorite library location, don’t forget to look around for unique and expressive public art, which is provided through Broward County Cultural Division’s Broward County Public Art and Design Program. The program allocates two percent (2%) of the total new construction budget for Broward County government facilities for commissioned artists to provide design expertise and create artworks within a range of projects.
Currently, 32 BCL locations have 46 pieces of public art on display that range from large-scale sculptures and murals to smaller paintings and multi-media installations. Broward County Cultural Division has made it easy to learn more about the public art located in libraries by installing QR (Quick Response) on interior artworks at libraries countywide. Get immediate access to detailed information on each of the public art projects with your smart phone simply by scanning a QR code located on signs next to each artwork. Just scan and click to learn more about the artist and to also access the Public Art and Design Tour located on the Broward County website.
