Lovers of literature – rejoice. The Feast is almost here!

Literary Feast 2012, March 2-5 Readers love writers and, of course, writers love readers. At Literary Feast 2012, both come together for four fun-filled days of literary events that raise funds for the Broward Public Library Foundation. From March 2-5, Literary Feast will showcase 17 outstanding authors in a series of happenings that range from panel discussions to intimate dinners. Last year, Literary Feast raised over $145,000, with proceeds helping to support literacy programs for all ages at Broward County Library. This year’s Feast is already garnering media attention with its all-star line-up of authors and awesome events!

Literary Feast 2012 Schedule of Events

  • LitLUNCH!Friday, March 2: An entertaining luncheon featuring author/editor Kate White to be held at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six’s Pier Top Lounge in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets are $65 per person.
  • A Night of Literary FeastsSaturday, March 3: Begin the evening with a cocktail reception at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six’s Panorama Room featuring all of the Literary Feast authors followed by intimate dinners with an author hosted in private homes and restaurants. Individual tickets are $175; ticket packages start at $200. A special $75 cocktail reception ticket is available to members of Broward County’s young professional groups.
  • LitLIVE!Sunday, March 4: Join the authors for a day of lectures, discussions and book signings at Nova Southeastern University Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center in Davie. Free and open to the public.
  • Novel Day for StudentsMonday, March 5: Broward County high school students have the opportunity to engage Literary Feast authors in a discussion of their work and the craft of writing. The authors will also announce the winners of the annual Novel Day of Students Short Story Contest, with more than 500 students participating each year.

Author! Author! Who’s Who at Literary Feast 2012

Literary Feast 2012 gathers together a genre-jumping array of writers representing everything from mysteries to biographies to literary fiction. Here’s the author roster for Literary Feast 2012:

Diana Abu-Jaber, author of the Miami-based novel Birds of Paradise, is a part-time resident of South Florida and the author of three previous novels and a culinary memoir.

John U. BaconJohn U. Bacon is a writer, speaker and sports commentator who’s latest book, Three and Out: Rich Rodriguez and the Michigan Wolverines in the Crucible of College Football, chronicles the story of a college football coach who inherits a winning team – only to lead them to three losing seasons.

Barry Barnes, a professor at Nova Southeastern University, explains a different perspective on success in his book Everything I Learned About Business I Learned From the Grateful Dead.

Mary Jane ClarkMary Jane Clark has written more than a dozen thrillers, drawing on her experience as a TV journalist for her KEY News series of mysteries. She recently published the second book in her new “Wedding Cake Mystery” series.

Leila Cobo, pianist, TV host and executive editor of Latin content and programming for Billboard magazine, is the author of the acclaimed novel Tell Me Something True and the recently released The Second Time We Met.

Lauren Groff has written two novels and published a collection of short stories. Her second book, Arcadia, will come out in mid-March 2012.

Doc Hendley is the founder and president of Wine to Water, a nonprofit aid organization focused on providing clean water worldwide to those in need. Wine to Water: A Bartender’s Quest to Bring Clean Water to the World, he writes about how one man can change the world.

Ann Hood’s latest novel The Red Thread is a moving tale about Chinese adoption. One of her other ten books, The Knitting Circle, is being adapted into an HBO movie starring and produced by Katherine Heigl.

N.M. Kelby is the author of a guide to writing fiction and six novels, including the recently released White Truffles in Winter, an imaginative look at the life of a legendary chef.

Jeffrey KlugerJeffrey Kluger is an expert at explaining things. A veteran writer of Time magazine, Kluger’s latest book, The Sibling Effect: What the Bonds Among Brothers and Sisters Reveal About Us, takes on the myths and reality of familial relationships.

Bernice McFadden, novelist and humor writer, explores racial conflicts in Mississippi in her new book Gathering of Waters.

Andrew S. Rosen is the CEO of educational conglomerate Kaplan, Inc. and the author of Change.edu: Rebooting for the Talent Economy, a look at the U.S. higher education system.

David Rosenfelt has written a series of popular thrillers starring lawyer Andy Carpenter and his dog Tara. His newest mystery, Heart of a Killer, is a stand-alone novel that looks at an ordinary man facing extraordinary circumstances.

Sally Bedell Smith has penned a number of bestselling biographies. Her latest is Elizabeth the Queen: The Life of the Modern Monarch.

Julia Spencer-Fleming’s seventh novel, One Was a Soldier, focuses on the issues facing veterans as they reenter life after service.

Kate WhiteKate White is the veteran editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine and the author of three career books for women and eight mystery novels including her latest So Pretty It Hurts and The Sixes: A Novel.
