Explore “Groundbreaking Reads” with the Broward County Libraries’ Adult Summer Reading Program!
Dig into “Groundbreaking Reads” during Broward County Libraries’ Adult Summer Reading Program, a summer’s worth of great books, events, contests and more that’s sponsored by the Friends of Broward County Library, Inc. This year, the Adult Summer Reading Program will also feature free classes to teach customers how to download free eBooks, music and magazines as well as technology “petting zoos” that provide hands-on practice on electronic devices.
Sixteen Broward County Libraries will participate in the 2013 Adult Summer Reading Program, which is free and open to the public:
Participants can register for the Summer Reading Program at participating libraries throughout the month of June; sign up now and be registered to enter a drawing to win a Kindle eReader.
While the Adult Summer Reading Program encourages everyone to read for fun, there’s also a full schedule of events to keep you busy when you’re not curled up with a book. Looking to get or stay active? Check out a tai chi demonstration/mini-class, yoga or mediation class or learn to disco dance. Keep your brain in shape with discussions of books both classic and best-selling or join a creative writing club. Get crafty and creative and learn to sew, tie-dye a t-shirt or take great digital photos.
Classes in downloading free library materials such as eBooks, audio books, music and magazines are taking place all summer long at 11 locations: African-American Research Library and Cultural Center; Jan Moran Collier City Learning Library; Imperial Point Library; Main Library; Margate Catharine Young Library; North Regional/Broward College Library; Northwest Regional Library; Pompano Beach Library; South Regional/Broward College Library; Southwest Regional Library and Tyrone Bryant Library.
