This subseries is composed of letters from his former students at FSU and the creative writing course on television. Shaara was a gifted instructor who was "untiring in his dedication to his students." Many of the students wrote about the influence he had on their lives and thanked him for providing a new understanding of literature. Student correspondence also includes notes of congratulation on the publication of his novels, The Broken Place and The Killer Angels. Some of the letters, however, are from students seeking information about literary agents or requesting basic biographical information about Shaara for a classroom assignment.
File folders only contain letters to Shaara. Materials are arranged alphabetically by personal name. For documentation pertaining to the Coyle E.
