Small Business Resource Center of the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center

A business plan lays out your goals for the business, provides evidence supporting why the goals are attainable and explains how you plan on attaining these goals. Please check out the resources below that are provided to help you get started.

A thorough site on creating a business plan. Includes an overview of business plans, planning it out, the different elements of a business plan, where and how to receive help, and a sample business plan. Entrepreneur.com also has handy cost calculators to help determine start-up costs, cash flow, break-even, monthly profits, etc.

Mastercard's The Plan: A Step-By-Step Business Plan Workbook
A free workbook that presents the components of a good plan, a step-by-step guide and a handy checklist.

New York Public Library's SBRC Business Owner's Manual: Writing a Business Plan
Another guide to help you through the process. This one might be a little less in-depth, but is still worth checking out for its insight.

U.S. Small Business Administration: Business Plan Basics
Produced by the Federal government, this site is a guide to business plans, how to write and use them, and it also includes many sample business plans.
