The mission of the Child Care Licensing and Enforcement section (CCLE) is to regulate, enforce and improve the quality of child care in Broward County.
CCLE is responsible for the implementation of the state-mandated licensing of all child care facilities and family child care homes in Broward County. CCLE monitors child care providers for compliance with health and safety standards. It also registers religious and non-public schools offering child care services.
Quality Assurance Unit: Provides information on regulations and technical assistance to prospective providers, reviews floor plans, conducts pre-licensing and licensing inspections and prepares corrective action plans.
Quality Counts: A voluntary continuous quality improvement program for early care and education providers. Funded by the Early Learning Coalition of Broward County, through the Agency for Workforce Innovation’s Office of Early Learning, the program assesses early learning programs and makes recommendations for improvements. Family Central, Inc. offers assistance to participating programs to mentor them in making the improvements.
Monitoring Unit: monitors each provider for compliance, follows up on failed inspections, and provides technical assistance.
Enforcement Unit: Investigates complaints against suspected unlicensed arrangements, and levies fines when indicated. It is the intention of the unit to have all arrangements become licensed or cease operations.
