NATURE OF WORK
This is administrative and supervisory work directing the activities of multi-facility vehicle parts warehouses.
Work involves managing, planning, and directing the requisitioning and issuing of all commodities and materials that are required to operate vehicle maintenance facilities. Supervision is exercised over a staff of storekeepers and clerical personnel by assignment and review of work. Work is reviewed by an administrative superior for conformity with established policies and procedures.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Coordinates requisitioning, storing, and issuing of parts, supplies, and materials.
Participates in vendor selection, billing transactions, budget preparation and part specification preparation.
Participates in the development and implementation of inventory control procedures and practices at vehicle parts warehouses.
Plans, assigns, and supervises employees engaged in storeroom operations.
Supervises periodic inventory of all stock; supervises the maintenance of perpetual inventory records.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Thorough knowledge of the principles and procedures involved in the operation of a vehicle parts warehouse.
Thorough knowledge of the commodity grouping assigned.
Thorough knowledge of computerized inventory control systems.
Considerable knowledge of the principles , practices and procedures of supervision, organization and administration.
Considerable knowledge of the rules and regulations pertaining to the purchase of commodities and services, and the administration of contracts used by a large governmental institution.
Ability to plan and execute a minimum/maximum inventory system.
Ability to plan, assign, organize and review the activities of subordinates.
Ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; thorough experience in managing the activities of a vehicular parts warehouse including considerable experience in the supervisory aspects of the work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
