NATURE OF WORK
This is supervisory and limited administrative work in the operation of county sponsored athletic leagues.
Work involves organizing, coordinating, and administering all county athletic leagues. Supervision is exercised over special maintenance crews, as necessary. Instructions are received from a superior who reviews work by inspection and observation of league activity, reports completed and revenue produced.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Coordinates county sponsored athletic leagues with facility manager, including scheduled use and maintenance of facilities.
Determines league seasons and dates; prepares league schedules and distributes to team managers and umpires.
Establishes and/or approves rules and guidelines of all league play; explains league and park rules to league participants.
Coordinates umpiring services; monitors contract and invoices for umpiring services.
Prepares orders for equipment and supplies used in league activity.
Assists in determining league fees; collects all league fees and prepares appropriate revenue reports.
Prepares monthly or special reports and incident reports.
Supervises special maintenance work crews as necessary.
Performs related work as required.

Considerable knowledge of various athletic and sports facilities and maintenance requirements.
Considerable knowledge of various athletic rules, regulations and equipment.
Considerable knowledge in the preparation of league schedules.
Ability to instruct individuals in various athletic and sports activities.
Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
Ability to supervise personnel and participate in the operational and maintenance work requirements.
Ability to initiate work plans and instruct personnel in proper procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively with the public.
Ability to learn and utilize new sports rules and
regulations, emergency repair of equipment, revenue facility management, recreation or related skills as needed.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in physical education, recreation or related field; experience in the area of recreation and parks, athletics, or related field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
