NATURE OF WORK
This is professional sales and marketing work in promoting the maritime industry at Port Everglades.
Work involves the promotion of the use of Port Everglades by cruise lines, ocean carriers, freight forwarders and other prospective customers through direct marketing presentations and personal solicitation. Employee in this class promotes the benefits of the Port to prospective clients by explaining Port facilities, the availability of inter-modal transportation and other amenities. Duties also include providing high level professional research, analysis, and communications support to senior Business Development staff; forecasting financial viability of various business agreements and leases; and preparing sales activity reports summarizing business visits with clients. Employee in this class also performs analysis of market and economic data to identify opportunities for growth in cruise and cargo activity; coordinates annual revenue budget preparation; facilitates problem resolution as needed to address customers' needs and concerns; and prepares for and attends various maritime related business and trade meetings or conferences. Work is performed with independent judgment within established guidelines. Work is reviewed through conferences and written reports.
Travels to conduct solicitation to prospective clients to encourage the use of Port Everglades for cruise, shipping, and freight forwarding; gives presentations at industry meetings; responds to inquiries from prospective clients.
Compiles data for statistical reports; prepares special reports and presentations as required.
Attends maritime related business meetings.
Plans and organizes site inspections and familiarization trips for individuals/groups interested in establishing a business at the Port.
Prepares proformas forecasting revenues and costs of potential leases and agreements.
Monitors Division’s revenue budgets and prepares related analyses; prepares annual revenue budgets for cruise, container, bulk and breakbulk revenue centers and assist as needed with preparation of Division annual expense budgets.
Prepares white paper-style research papers on various commodities, cargo, and cruise markets.
Develops promotional materials in support of Business Development Division's mission.
Provides hands on cruise operations support during peak periods as needed.
Performs related work as required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in business or public administration, marketing, transportation or related field; four (4) years experience in the cargo transportation and/or cruise industries; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
