NATURE OF WORK
This is semi-skilled and supervisory work in servicing automotive and related equipment.
Work involves supervising and participating in the activities of a small group of service attendants engaged in servicing automobiles, trucks and other standard and special equipment operated by the County.
Work is carried out under the supervision of a technical supervisor and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Supervises the fueling and tire sections of the fleet maintenance garage; prepares work schedules for servicing personnel.
Directs and participates in changing and repairing tires; makes field service calls to change and/or repair tires.
Watches tire, tube and repair materials to keep stock adequate, forwards necessary paperwork to store supervisor to insure materials are ordered.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Considerable knowledge of automobile servicing and tire repair methods.
Knowledge of the standard servicing characteristics of automotive and related equipment.
Ability to prepare and maintain routine work records and reports.
Ability to supervise the work of subordinates.
Ability to prepare accurate and comprehensive case histories.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and
linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from high school; experience in automotive servicing and tire repair work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
