During the Event

• In the case of weather event, such as a hurricane, unplug all electronics and big appliances. This will help prevent damage from power surges when lightning strikes or the electricity comes back on.
• If you lose power, turn off major appliances such as the air conditioner and water heater to reduce damage when electricity comes back on.
• Beware of lightning. Stay away from electrical equipment during a storm.
• Don't use the phone or take a bath/shower during the storm.
