NATURE OF WORK
This is work assisting in the operation of auxiliary printing equipment used in a centralized printing service.
Work involves assisting in the operation of offset presses and a variety of auxiliary equipment used in printing and assembling a variety of brochures and related materials. Direction is received from a technical supervisor and work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Operates and cleans auxiliary print shop equipment such as collators, folders, paper cutters, paper drills, binders and perforators.
Assists in the operation and cleaning of the offset press.
Prepares finished work for distribution throughout the County.
Makes deliveries to nearby offices.
Unloads paper trucks, pulls paper for each day's work for each press operator.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of basic mechanical adjustments on various printing equipment.
Some knowledge of offset equipment.
Some knowledge of the chemicals and supplies used in printing.
Some knowledge of the limitation, adaptation and general duplicating characteristics of the various types of masters, such as paper, zinc and aluminum.
Ability to maintain routine records and supply inventory.
Ability to implement written and oral instructions.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and
linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from high school; some experience in the operation of auxiliary print shop equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
