Broward County Human Rights Section, HOPE, Inc. and the Broward County Housing Finance and Community Development Division are sponsoring a Fair Housing Symposium "Answering the Call" on Friday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Signature Grand located at 2900 State Road 84, Davie. The housing symposium will address emerging issues and laws surrounding fair housing in Broward County. Workshop topics will include Assistance Animals, Consumer Loans, Housing Segregation, Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Amendments and Notification Requirements by Housing Providers. More...

 

sun images  Mural Project for Broward 100 – Celebrating the Art of Community Seeks Mural Artists – Deadline is May 4

Broward Cultural Division is seeking to commission multiple professional artists or artist teams to design and implement nine or more murals in celebration of Broward County's centennial, Broward 100 - Celebrating the Art of Community. Broward artists will be selected for the project through a unique partnership among Broward County Cultural Division, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Community Foundation of Broward. The murals will be located in prominent outdoor locations throughout the County. Artist selection will be based on the merit of artist's design as well as their community engagement proposal. sun images  Deerfield Island Park Holds Second Earth Day Waterway Cleanup

Deerfield Island Park, in conjunction with Dixie Divers and Island Water Sports, is looking for kayakers and paddleboarders to help with the second annual Earth Day Waterway Cleanup, planned for 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 19. Participants will meet at the dock area at Sullivan Park, then help cleanup the waterways that surround the park -  the Hillsboro and Royal Palm canals and the Intracoastal Waterway. The Deerfield Beach Percy White Library, located at 837 East Hillsboro Boulevard, Deerfield Beach, will be closed to the public on Saturday, April 19, due to maintenance repairs to the facility. The library will re-open to the public at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 21. More...
