"Director of the Year" Goes to Aviation Director

New Wage Recovery Ordinance Goes Into Effect
With the New Year comes the implementation of a new County ordinance
(2012-32) related to wage recovery. Employees who have performed work in
Broward County and believe their employer has failed to pay or underpaid the
wage rate applicable for the work performed can now file a complaint first
with their employer and then, after 15 days, with the County’s Office of
Intergovernmental Affairs and Professional Standards, and receive an
administrative hearing for non-payment of earned wages if the complaint is
valid. As of January 2, 2013, the new ordinance provides that all employers
in Broward County must post a
notice to their employees
regarding wage recovery. Several organizations, including the Federal
Government, the State of Florida and Indian Tribes, are exempt from the
ordinance.
