February’s Housing Scorecard Just Published

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of the Treasury released their monthly housing market report for February. This month's scorecard announces "Data continues to show important progress across many key indicators —as home prices ended the year with strong gains and purchases of new homes and sales of existing homes were also strong —although officials caution that the overall recovery remains fragile." Two highlights of February’s scorecard are the success of the foreclosure mitigation programs and Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP’s) ability to stave off foreclosures. The 2012 fourth quarter mortgage provider assessment “Making Home Affordable Program Report” announces that mortgage lenders are continuing to formulate more accurate evaluations and report more accurate borrower incomes.
