Governor Recommends Funding SHIP
Florida Housing Coalition
Florida Governor, Rick Scott is recommending that $50 million of the state’s Fiscal Year 2013-14 budget be allotted for the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program. Jaimie Ross of Florida Housing Coalition and Steve Auger of Florida Housing Finance Corporation agree that the funds would help strengthen Florida’s economy by creating jobs and providing housing assistance for low income and homeless population. “This $50 million would help bolster the state’s economy, generating about 5,500 jobs and an estimated economic benefit of more than $372 million," said Steve Auger, Florida Housing Finance Corporation's Executive Director.
