Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Grant Program and Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration Grant Program The overarching purpose of the Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Grant Program and the Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration Grant Program is to assist states, , cities, counties/parishes, Native American Tribes or other units of local government in undertaking comprehensive programs to identify and control lead-based paint hazards in eligible privately owned rental or owner-occupied housing, with the exception that the Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration Grant Program is targeted to urban jurisdictions with the greatest lead-based paint hazard control needs. Comprehensive Housing Counseling Program Funding provided by this NOFA is intended to support HUD-approved counseling agencies to respond flexibly to the needs of residents and neighborhoods, and deliver a wide variety of housing counseling services to homebuyers, homeowners, renters, and the homeless. Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) Program The purpose of the ICDBG program is the development of viable Indian and Alaska Native communities, including the creation of decent housing, suitable living environments, and economic opportunities primarily for persons with low- and moderate- incomes as defined in 24 CFR 1003.4. The ONAP in HUD’s Office of Public and Indian Housing administers the program. Close Date: March 18, 2013
Healthy Homes Technical Studies Funding for technical studies to improve existing methods for detecting and controlling key housing-related health and safety hazards; to develop new methods to detect and control these hazards; and to improve our knowledge of key housing-related health and safety hazards. Fair Housing Organization Initiative Continuing Development Component Funds will support fair housing enforcement organizations in building their capacity to enforce or investigate violations under the Fair Housing Act.
Housing Counseling Training Funds provide, under cooperative agreements with HUD, training activities designed to improve and standardize the quality of counseling provided by housing counselors employed by “participating agencies.” Close Date: April 19, 2013
Residential Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) Service Coordinators provide grants to public housing agencies (PHAs), tribes/tribally designated housing entities (TDHEs), Resident Associations (RAs), and tax-exempt nonprofit organizations (including grassroots, faith-based and other community-based organizations) for the provision of a Service Coordinator to coordinate supportive services and other activities designed to help Public and Indian housing residents attain economic and housing self-sufficiency. McKinney-Vento HMIS Technical Assistance and Research Grant Program Funding for technical assistance (TA) and research for Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) data collection, reporting, data utilization, performance measurement and research, including TA activities regarding the Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR). No cost sharing is required. Close Date: May 21
Choice Neighborhood Planning Grant Program HUD’s signature place-based initiative and is a central element of the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative (NRI), an interagency partnership between HUD, the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Justice, and Treasury. This federal partnership supports locally driven solutions for transforming distressed neighborhoods using place-based strategies to address the interconnected challenges of poor quality housing, inadequate schools, poor health, high crime and lack of capital. Transformation Initiative: Sustainable Communities Research Grant Program Funding for quality research under the broad subject area of sustainability. HUD is primarily interested in sponsoring cutting edge research in quality, equitable affordable housing development and preservation; transportation and infrastructure planning; and “green,” energy-efficient practices. Close Date: May 29, 2013
Fair Housing Initiative Programs (FHIP) FHIP Funds are used to increase compliance with the Fair Housing Act. This year there are three Initiatives: Private Enforcement (PEI), Education and Outreach (EOI), and the Fair Housing Organization Initiatives (FHOI). HUD will award grants/cooperative agreements under each of these program initiatives. Close Date: June 11, 2013
Street Outreach Program (SOP) Since 1996, SOP has been aiding the young homeless population by funding grantees to provide street-based services to runaway, homeless, and street youth who have been subjected to, or are at risk of being subjected to, sexual abuse, prostitution, or sexual exploitation. Transformation Initiative: Rental Assistance Demonstration Small Grant Program Funding of approximately $400,000 for the Transformation Initiative: Rental Assistance Demonstration Small Research Grant Program. This program is to produce policy-relevant new knowledge about the implementation and results of HUD’s Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD). Close Date: July 08, 2013
Self-Help Homeownership Opportunity Program Funds will be awarded to national and regional non-profit organizations and consortia to facilitate and encourage innovative homeownership opportunities on a national, geographically diverse basis through the provision of self-help homeownership housing programs. HOPE VI Main Street Grant Program The purpose of the HOPE VI Main Street Program is to provide grants to small communities to assist in the renovation of an historic or traditional central business district or “Main Street” area by replacing unused commercial space in buildings with affordable housing units. Capacity Building for Community Development and Affordable Housing Grants (Section 4) Funding of approximately $33,169,290 in Fiscal Year (FY) 2013 funding to carry out the eligible activities related to affordable housing and community development for the Section 4 Capacity Building program, of which at least $5,000,000 shall be made available for rural capacity building activities.
