BUS OPERATOR

SALARY

  • ​$14.41 - $23.54 hourly
    (annual increases to maximum)
  • $10.63 hourly Training Rate for first 8 weeks
  • $29,972.00 - $48,963.00 annually
    (excluding overtime)​​

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol test and a criminal background check
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to perform functions of position
  • Knowledge of Florida and local motor vehicle regulations
  • Must enjoy working with people and have exceptional customer service experience
  • Must have been a licensed driver for at least three (3) years
  • Must meet New Hire Driver’s License Criteria which includes no more than one moving violation, no at-fault accidents, and no suspensions within the past three years, plus other requirements
  • Must successfully complete job related tests and relevant training
  • Possess a valid State of Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class “B” with Airbrake and “P” (Passenger Transport) endorsement or a CDL Learner’s Permit at time of hire
  • Previous transit operator experience preferred
  • Willingness to work varied work schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays

MECHANIC

SALARY

  • $23.19 - $29.88 hourly
    (annual increases to maximum)
  • $48,235.00 - $62,150.00 annually

DESCRIPTION

  • Diagnoses problems with equipment and/or their sub-systems, which may include electrical, hydraulic, engine, mechanical, drive train, brake, and/or other specialized systems in order to determine the nature/extent of the repair needed, estimate the parts needed, and/or provide information regarding the cost effectiveness of repair versus replacement
  • Rebuilds/repairs a variety of equipment and/or equipment sub-systems, which may include diesel engines, hydraulic systems, brakes, transmissions, electrical systems and components, power-take-offs, pumps, cooling systems, air conditioning, and drive lines, in order to cost-effectively extend the safe operating life of the equipment, minimize equipment replacement, and/or minimize equipment down time
  • Performs a variety of minor equipment maintenance/repair, including replacing lights/lenses, adding fluids, lubricating, making minor adjustments, inflating tires, and/or replacing a variety of hoses in order to ensure safe operation of equipment, minimize major repairs, and/or prevent damage to equipment, facilities, or the environment
  • Performs preventive maintenance on a wide variety of public transit vehicles and other specialized equipment in order to identify potential operating problems, extend the safe operating life of the equipment, maintain warranty, ensure equipment operates safely, and minimize repair costs

REQUIREMENTS

  • Two (2) years full-time journey-level diesel or heavy equipment maintenance/repair work and ASE Certification as a Diesel Mechanic is desired
  • Knowledge of operating principles for a variety of diesel engines and their sub-systems
  • Knowledge of general equipment operation diagnostic/troubleshooting principles and procedures for a variety of public transit vehicles and other specialized equipment
  • Knowledge of general diesel engine tune-up procedures; established safety practices and procedures for operating a variety of public transit vehicles and other specialized equipment
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow technical manuals regarding the operation, maintenance, repair of a variety of public transit vehicles and other specialized equipment
  • Ability to interpret output from a variety of diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to repair, maintain, and operate a variety of public transit vehicles and other specialized equipment to diagnose problems
  • Ability to analyze problems and identify possible solutions
  • Possess a valid State of Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class “B” with Airbrake and “P” (Passenger Transport) endorsement or a CDL Learner’s Permit at time of hire

COACH SERVICE ATTANDANT

SALARY

  • $12.26 - $20.71 hourly
    (annual increases to maximum)
  • $25,501.00 - $43,077.00 annually

DESCRIPTION

  • General maintenance and routine servicing of Broward County Transit (BCT) buses
  • Clean and wash BCT buses, check and replenish fuel and fluid levels, and drive buses within the service facility
  • Perform duties according to established routines which is subject to inspection, both in progress and upon completion

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to perform automotive servicing and maintenance procedures
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability, political affiliation or sexual orientation
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of the basic characteristics of automotive equipment
  • Possess a valid State of Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class “B” with Airbrake and “P” (Passenger Transport) endorsement or a CDL Learner’s Permit at time of hire
  • Successfully complete job related tests; and any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience

STOREKEEPER

SALARY

  • $14.46 - $23.68 hourly
    (annual increases to maximum)
  • $30,077.00 - $49,254.00 annually

DESCRIPTION

  • Work involves the clerical and manual supply of heavy duty vehicular parts in a centrally-located storeroom
  • Receive, store, and issue a variety of tools, materials, supplies and vehicular equipment and parts
  • Check quantity and quality of goods received for conformity with specifications, and store goods in designated locations
  • Maintain and develop records of store’s activities
  • Assists in procurement and ordering of stock and special orders and calls supervisor’s attention to any problems or discrepancies
  • Issues materials in response to authorized work orders based on knowledge of materials in warehouse
  • Records inventory disbursements from work orders through the inventory control system
  • Assists in moving supplies from one location to another; rearranges stock areas when required; climbs ladders as needed to rearrange or obtain items for disbursement
  • Performs filing and record keeping, and maintains cleanliness of work areas; may operate office equipment and a fork lift
  • Work will be evaluated in progress and upon completion, as well as during periodic inventories and audits

REQUIREMENTS

  • Three (3) years professional experience in the operation of a vehicular parts storeroom, including six (6) months experience in the operation of a heavy duty vehicular parts storeroom is desired
  • Knowledge of storeroom methods and procedures; and supply types in the area of assignment
  • Knowledge of routine record keeping procedures and the ability to make standard arithmetic calculations
  • Ability to carry out oral and written instructions; issue stock and maintain necessary records accurately
  • Ability to perform heavy manual work in lifting and moving stock; and to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity
  • Possess a valid State of Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class “B” with Airbrake and “P” (Passenger Transport) endorsement or a CDL Learner’s Permit at time of hire
