Purpose:
The Public Art and Design Committee, created in 1976, is designed to oversee the goals and mission of the Public Art and Design Program. The primary goals being: to create a better visual environment for the citizens of Broward County; to integrate the design work of artists into the development of county public work projects, and to promote tourism and economic vitality of the County through the enhancement of public places. The Committee proposes an annual plan, coordinates maintenance of the existing collection, and sponsors educational programs and artist training.


Projects:
The Public Art and Design Committee is composed of seven Broward County art and design professionals appointed by the Broward Cultural Council, including a council member who chairs the committee.  The Public Art and Design Committee has 10-15 artist selection panels which are composed of arts experts, community representatives and agency managers.
