To support academic skills through teaching the parallels between: 1. Units of Measurement (Mathematical Fractions) and subdivisions of the Musical Beat and 2. Essay Writing Forms and Song Forms. JazzSLAM promotes racial harmony by teaching students about African, European and Hispanic contributions to Jazz. In addition to language arts, math and social studies skills, JazzSLAM supports teachers' effort to raise student' standardized test scores by teaching critical thinking and test taking strategies. JazzSLAM is approved by the Broward County School Board and meets Florida's Sunshine State Standards.

Funded for FREE, one hour presentations in Broward County public schools. JazzSLAM focuses on 4th graders, offering on site, live jazz quartet, Power Point educational presentations. Arrangements can be made with private schools interested in the presentations.

JazzSLAM is a part of Communities in Schools of Broward
