In 1927, Fort Lauderdale constructed this beautiful Mediterranean-style fire station to show that the city was rebuilding after the devastating hurricane of 1926.  Famed architect Francis Abreu created this special facility, incorporating a rotunda, chandelier, eyebrow windows, turned stone columns, wood beam ceiling, crown molding, a fireplace and a fountain.  The non-profit Fire Museum team of volunteers has restored and furnished Station 3 to its original Roaring 20's look and feel.

Today, Historic Fire Station 3 showcases the architecture and furnishings of the 1920's, plus firefighting exhibits, antique fire engines, and children's fire safety videos/info/fun. Report a fire from a real fire alarm box, hook up a hose to a fire hydrant, feel how heavy firefighter's tools are, and slide a fire pole.  Various fire videos can be seen, suitable to either adults or children.  Hours are Sat from 9 to Noon, and Sun from Noon to 4 PM.  Youth group fire safety programs are available, and the hall can be rented for special events.  General admission is free, donations are appreciated.  Every Day Is A Hot Day At The Fire Museum!
