Purpose:
The Historical Society of Parkland is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to promote and foster the preservation of the history of Parkland; to identify, collect, preserve and maintain historical memorabilia, artifacts and sites; to make historical resources accessible to the public; to educate and encourage awareness of local history; and to pass on to future generations an appreciation for the history of the City.

Projects:
Maintain and expand the extensive archives of photographs, historical documents, and correspondence. Record historical data in our Past Perfect computer database. Maintain the site of the time capsule buried in 2008 on the occasion of the City’s 45th birthday and intended to be recovered and opened on its 100th birthday in 2063. Maintain the display historical artifacts in the City of Parkland’s library. Research, write and publish periodic articles on the history of Parkland. Refurbish an historical fire truck and place it as a historical marker. Develop and place historical markers throughout the city (Portals of Parkland’s Past). Upgrade and maintain the Society’s web site. Work with the Archaeological and Historical Conservancy in Davie to develop a walking tour of the Tequesta Indians historical site known as Margate Blount, founded in 1959 by founder and first mayor of Parkland Bruce Blount.
