Filmmaker, Sami Khan, created this documentary video to chronicle the fabrication and installation of the Port Everglades Terminal 18 Project within the context of the overall public art program in Broward County, Florida. It documents the evolution of artist Michele Oka Doner’s project, her inspiration for creating the artwork, and an overview of the materials and methods of the fabrication and installation process. Khan interviewed Oka Doner in her Soho, NYC studio and traveled to the foundry in Philadelphia to document making the bronze elements, prior to filming the installation of the terrazzo and bronze elements at the Port. The video was first screened at the 2009 Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF). It is played on Port Terminal 18 monitors to foster greater appreciation and understanding of the making of a work of public art.
