Estelle Loewenstein

Estelle Loewenstein

Estelle Loewenstein’s professional career was predominantly in the health and human services.  Educated in library sciences and working as a medical librarian, Estelle returned to the University and received a degree in Nursing.  Her career evolved as a Utilization Review and Quality Assurance Manager in a hospital setting, and as a Home Health industry administrator.

Upon retirement from full time employment, and with children grown, she was able to pursue other issues that interested and concerned her.  Quality of life and sustainable communities were at the forefront.  These were the critical elements that influenced her participation in cultural activities and social advocacy.

Earlier Board of Director’s appointments were with the Nova School Advisory Council, Ft. Lauderdale Jewish Federation, and Jewish Family Service.  Current Board positions are with the Hollywood Interfaith Council, Hollywood North Beach Association, Planned Parenthood of South Palm Beach and Broward County, Hollywood Historical Society V.P., and the City of Hollywood Historic Preservation Board.  Estelle is also a member of numerous environmental, preservation, and cultural organizations, including Hollywood Art and Culture Center and the Broward Trust for Historical Preservation.  Her time is also spent as a political activist, working for many candidates and issues.

Recognizing the significance of history and preservation in maintaining a stable, diverse community, that gives it’s residents a sense of place and an identity rooted in the past, present and the future, Estelle founded and annually coordinates a home tour of the Hollywood Historical Lakes area.
